A LETTER FROM TRINA………………. SUNDAY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT
It is funny how God uses life to refocus us on Him. In the Helsom household, it seems like all of the branches are falling off of the tree. It has been one of those months when we cannot catch a break - from our childrens health, a sick dog, a new house........................an empty feeling. That is the blessing of being a Christian. We know that Christ does fill our emptiness, and with Him, we can do anything.
Our Sunday School numbers spiked after we did the Shake Up and moved SS to the 10:30 service. As a matter of fact, church attendance and giving went up too. Now, we are seeing the effects of everyday - one day, Lord, I will get my kids there.
Do you remember the sinking feeling of September 11, 2001? We all felt a loss in our security and realized God is in control. Church attendance went up all over the country, people once again mentioned God, we socialized more with our neighbors....................and now what? We have fallen back into our old patterns.
Sometimes I wonder how frustrated God must be. He wants us to refocus and the vision to be Him.
On March 1st and 2nd, Sarah Wilke and myself will be meeting with any parent who has Sunday School aged children. We want to know what you want your SS program to look like. Give us some ideas. We will accept all ideas of change that will glorify the Lord. Please look for us after the Saturday evening service, the 8:00 Sunday morn service and the 10:30 service. We will be in the Activity Center. Open your eyes to the Lord, open your heart in prayer, and open our ears to hear what you need as parents to get your child(ren) to Sunday School.
God Bless,
